ABOUT LENAPE VALLEY BASKETBALL
Lenape Valley Basketball is a volunteer organization whose mission is to provide Intramural and Travel basketball programs for the youth of our community. Our organization is dedicated to providing positive role models for our children while developing the qualities of sportsmanship, discipline, teamwork and self-confidence.
The goal of Lenape Valley Basketball is to teach the fundamentals of Basketball in a healthy, competitive environment and ultimately lead players to become responsible members of our community. The basketball teams are divided into the Futures and the Pee Wee Division. The teams are run by "Double-Goal" Coaches that put the players first. A "Double-Goal Coach" is one who wants to win of course, but also helps players develop positive character traits as human beings. Helping players learn important life lessons is more important than winning.
MORE ON LV BASKETBALL
The basketball season begins in early January and ends in late March. Clinics and practices will take place in December. Clinics typically last about 1.5 hours and practices and games go for an hour. The majority of practices and games occur on Saturdays, although there are games on weeknights as well.
In 1998, Lenape Valley Basketball founded the LV Basketball Scholarship Fund Tournament. The original goal of the scholarship was to provide financial support to those children who have experienced the catastrophic loss of a parent and need help funding a college education. The program has grown to include students with significant achievements in academics and community service.
The Tournament is currently held at the beautiful gyms of CB South and typically has between 300 – 400 children ages 6-18 participating each year. Through the generous support of both the sponsors and players, the fund has raised $75,000 for children’s college education.
